With a focus on shape, rhythm & structure the paintings are usually developed from line drawings, though ideas can come from anywhere. Drawing in its different forms is important in learning to respond, select and 'design' – and this has led to an element of abstraction. Graduated (with distinction) having specialised in painting..... typically creating anything from small oil sketches up to 6ft canvases; studied Environmental Design which involved creating large sale canvases for specific locations - the largest being 16ft long. Qualified to teach adults. Worked as an illustrator and designer for two giftware companies, a decorated tile manufacturer, and over many years designed and created artwork for a local advertising agency. In terms of portraiture, produced many on-the-spot portraits at events for countless satisfied customers, largely round the south of England, also Australia. Conveying the individuality, expression & attitude in every face is always a fascination. Now working as a figurative artist based in Poole, Dorset, UK and running occasional art classes. Involved in organising drawing and painting groups (these activities are currently suspended). Member of Bournemouth Arts Club, Dolphin Life Drawing Group & Trustee for Poole & East Dorset Art Society.
